BEHIND THE ROUND
A little more about this quiz
The bank begins with a logo-identification question for every current NHL team, including Utah Mammoth. Eighteen additional questions zoom in on the symbols and shapes that make the marks distinctive, such as a winged wheel, a musical note, or an animal hidden around a landscape.
These are current team marks checked in September 2026, rather than a mixture of obsolete and active franchises. Read the explanation to notice a detail you might have missed. The image-source disclosure points to the team’s reference page; this independent quiz is not endorsed by the league or its clubs.
LEARN THE PATTERN
Identify all 32 NHL logos from shape, letters, and details
Use the complete thirty-two-logo round to cover every team in the bank. Try the separate crest-detail round to look beyond recognizing a familiar color.
All 32 NHL logo answers and their crest numbers
Find a team in the reference, then use its numbered image in the question bank. The table follows the bank’s September 2026 team set, including Utah Mammoth.

Check what you remember
Look away from the table. Try each question, then open it to check your answer.
Which two teams in this bank have New York in their names?Show answer
The New York Islanders and New York Rangers. Identify their different crests instead of answering only New York.
Which team’s name in the table replaced the temporary Utah Hockey Club identity?Show answer
Utah Mammoth. The permanent identity was announced in May 2025; crest 23 in this bank uses the Mammoth identity.
Are the thirty-two crest identifications and eighteen close-detail questions two different team lists?Show answer
No. Questions 1–32 identify the thirty-two teams. Questions 33–50 revisit selected crest details.
Look at the mark before naming the team
Start with its main shape: a letter, animal, leaf, wheel, shield, or other symbol. Then inspect a smaller detail. Boston’s B sits inside a spoked wheel; Detroit adds a wing to its wheel. These two observations distinguish the actual marks more precisely than “a round logo.”
Use the numbered bank as a study checklist
Questions 1–32 show one crest for each team in the reference table. The later eighteen questions revisit details such as Montreal’s H inside a C or the red eye in Seattle’s curling S. After a missed crest, describe one visible feature before trying the full identification round again.
Match the displayed version and dated team set
Teams may have alternate or historical marks, so answer for the image shown. This bank includes Utah Mammoth, whose permanent identity was announced in May 2025. An older Utah Hockey Club image is a different version from the Mammoth mark used here.
Keep printed logo rounds large enough to inspect
For a group activity, use a color worksheet and check that letters and small details remain visible before handing it out. Ask players to name the team first, then give a design clue. The full bank and its answer key keep each numbered image with its explanation.
Put it into practice
